After I paint my canvas , I scratch the paint. Instead of adding material on the canvas, I take it off from it. Although it is a sculptural movement, when you apply it to art, it gives a new impulse to painting.

One of the most difficult thing in the process of making what is in your mind concrete is finding the true material. Making circles in smaller scale has not caused any problems so far , however 180*180 canvas was a big deal. Luckly, after a time of investigation, I came across to this big guy. This compass saved my life.
How to circle?
I am on my half way here... I had to turn the canvas upside down as it was really difficult to hatch 180 degree circling. But you definitely have a different kind of relation with the canvas. Sometimes bending and bowing down in front of it and sometimes looking down upon it on a chair.

Lino printing is very similar technique with a traditional Turkish wood carving and printing method. As I aim to intermingle Western and Eastern art, besides my oil painting , I try to apply some traditional methosds. Lino carving and printing ebables me to have neat repetitions with touches of orientalism. Patterns are definitely my very own unique ones.

My emerald green tiles are inspired form a mosque in Turkey that has gold touches on the seramics. Thus, I used lino to give the texture and it worked.
East meets West
One ambivalent thing about painting is sometimes you do not know what will come out of your brush. These are the guys I used to sketch for a couple of years, but I would never imagine them take their place on my oil paintings, however they showed up all of a sudden and loved their place in the story of Prometheus.

Although my reference is an islamic religious place, I do not intend to make religious connotations in the viewer. Rather, I am interested in the flawless geometrical patterns and colour spectrum as seen below.

Small or big, circle is a circle. It is sometimes stubborn, sometimes difficult to understand or easy-going. (I mean drawing the round shape. Dealing with geometrical patterns, not always easy.)

Creation procedure
Creating process of a painting is just like giving birt to a child. It is sometimes painful but there awaits a great relief in the end.
In my interior project, as I have been always inrigued by interior, i firt picked some photos online or from magazines. I collaged them, changed the colours according to my taste and intention, brought them together , sketched , added or excluded some elements and outlined them on my hand made canvases.
